OmaTuomioistuin e-service

The OmaTuomioistuin e-service can now be used to handle almost all petitionary matters and disputes of district courts. For the time being, you can only handle your own matters in the e-service. Acting as an attorney and on behalf of another person will also be possible later.

In the OmaTuomioistuin e-service, you can now handle, for example, the cancellation of a document, matters related to child custody or the appointment of an estate distributor. The e-service uses an initiation form from which the customer selects the case title, i.e. what kind of case they want to initiate.

Based on the title, the e-service identifies whether the customer must submit an application or an application for a summons. This depends on whether it is a petitionary matter or a dispute.

In the future, notifications of messages received in the OmaTuomioistuin e-service will primarily be sent to Suomi.fi Messages. If the customer has not activated Suomi.fi Messages, a notification of a new message will be sent to the email address they have provided for this purpose. Later this year, more new functionalities will be introduced, such as main hearing day reminders, which requires that the customer has activated Suomi.fi Messages.

The OmaTuomioistuin e-service is available in divorce cases in district courts (including divorce cases where ancillary claims are presented). Spouses can use the e-service on their own behalf.

The e-service can be used to check the deadlines related to the reconsideration period even if the customer has not started using the e-service when the reconsideration period notification has been issued. The second-stage application can be submitted in the e-service once the reconsideration period has passed.

In the e-service, you can file for divorce and send messages to the court and receive messages from the court. Customers can also start using the e-service in a case that is already pending by logging in to the e-service and providing the e-service as their process address.

The use of the e-service requires that the customer can use strong identification (Suomi.fi identification). Once the customer has entered the e-service as their process address, he or she will receive an e-mail notification that a new message has been received in the e-service.

The e-service is available to customers at omatuomioistuin.fi address and also via the start page of the e-services of the judicial administration (in the section General courts of the e-services of the judicial administration.
