Be cautious – scam messages are circulating in the name of courts

Finnish courts

Scam messages have been sent via email in the name of courts. Do not open links in suspicious messages, do not provide your information to the sender, or do not make payments.

Individual court employees or the court do not provide legal assistance for a fee. Legal proceedings cannot be influenced by payment. In unclear cases, you can always directly contact the court’s official email, which can be found in the court’s contact information.

Courts do not send invoices by email

Courts send invoices to individual clients either via an electronic invoicing channel or as paper mail by mail. The court does not send invoices via email. The sender receives an automatic acknowledgment of receipt from the court email. The email addresses of court staff always end with oikeus.fi.

Safe communication in the courts’ own e-services

District courts have the OmaTuomioistuin e-service and administrative and special courts have their own e-service. Through them, it is safe to use the e-services, receive attachments, and communicate with the court. Additionally, the service för secure e-mail messages (oikeus.fi) can be utilized. It is the recommended way to sende confidential and sensitive documents.

Act like this if you receive a suspicious message

If you receive a suspicious message, do not click on links. Clicking the link and filling in information can lead to misuse of your data.

If you have clicked the link and provided information, follow the security guidelines of your bank and other services. Then report the crime to the police.   If you suspect that your personal data has ended up in the wrong hands, check the instructions provided by the Suomi.fi service: My personal data has been stolen or leaked (suomi.fi).
